Game Theory, Cybernetics, and the Left: My Second Three Avalon Exposition Sessions

The session on game theory was a fail,

I've written two books on it, enough said,

Matrix logic felt jejune, cold, and stale,

Is my long fascination with it dead?

Post-apocalyptic cybernetics?

Can Jesus save us from the end of days?

Does tech need Christian apologetics?

Can there be a Man-God AI obeys?

So many years pond'ring What Is The Left,

That ancient ask makes matrices seem fresh,

Of new insight I find myself bereft,

I get no sectual kick from the sesh.

God, cybernetics, Christ's way to stan joy,

Today I became a Poulos fanboy.

Rawls and Me, by Jurgen Habermas

Rawls and Me Shouldn't I leave off with critical theory? Shouldn't I simply be a liberal like Rawls? I respect there's reason in your query, Even if your American tilt galls. I want you to persuade you that John's like me, Both of us doubly fuse our traditions, Locke, Mill, Kant, Marx, the U.K., Germany-- We've calmed them all with peaceful seditions. In your land, liberal means two diff'rent things, John's theory's split between them, so is mine, My belief in critical theory brings      to the fore a tension.  I think that's fine. You're off to see Axel Honneth tonight? Great, say hello, I think he gets me right.

A Neighbor's Tribute to Montclair

Montclair is the town I never moved to, I saw it first when I was nine years old, A South End home that I could have grooved to, My parents chose Chatham, they weren't so bold. I saw it again at thirty seven, Our baby son was in a Snugli pack, The South End could be our fam'ly heaven, We weren't afraid.  Forward!  No looking back. Montclair was cheap, South Orange cheaper, We got a place there for 95 thou, The trains were loud, the house was a keeper, SO was home, Montclair was posh--MAM!--wow. I don't regret our choice in '92, My parents' in '64?  That I do. Wayne Eastman, 9-23-2026

A Toast to My Daughter and to Paul (Libra)

Does marry rhyme with a name or a mood? Neither.  I think that it rhymes with starry, It's a path that's both heavenly and lewd, To love, to make mistakes is to marry. Why is it matri- not patri- mony? Paul, here's a point relevant to you, The maternal root--it is not phony, To marry is to be a mother, too. Why do t's and d's often sound alike? We risk when we have betted or bedded, When we ride to our jobs on train or bike, To marry is to have desires whetted. To marry is to turn off one's damn brain, To embrace true joy instead of sham pain.
