A Toast to Caroline and Nick
Does marry rhyme with a name or a mood?
Neither. I think that it rhymes with starry,
It's a path that's both heavenly and lewd,
To love, to make mistakes is to marry.
Why is it matri- not patrimony?
Nick, here's a point relevant to you,
The maternal root--it is not phony,
To marry is to be a mother, too.
Why do t's and d's often sound alike?
We risk when we have betted or bedded,
When we ride to our jobs on train or bike,
To marry is to have desires wedded.
To marry is to turn off one's damn brain,
To embrace true joy instead of sham pain.
